Dún Ard Bed and Breakfast is located in the sunny South East of Ireland, in the picturesque Gaeltacht of Ring (An Rinn) just outside Dungarvan, in County Waterford.
Dún Ard is aptly named, (from the Gaelic for “High Fortress”) overlooking the ever changing Dungarvan Bay. Prominently positioned on an elevated site, the house enjoys spectacular views of the Comeragh Mountains and Dungarvan Bay, with the twinkling lights of Dungarvan at night.
Famous the world over for its rich heritage and folklore, Ring is justifiably proud of its unique identity and Gaelic tradition.
Less than 10km away is Dungarvan, the county town of West Waterford and its commercial heart. The same distance in the opposite direction is Ardmore, a beautiful coastal village with magnificent sandy beaches and famous 800 year old Round Tower.
As Dún Ard Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of West Waterford, it is an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore the nearby towns and villages of Youghal, Lismore, Stradbally & Tramore. The locality has a range of interesting activities to keep our guests occupied, including three 18 hole golf courses, all within 15km, fishing & sea angling and a multitude of day trips that we can help you to plan.
Closer to home is Helvick Head with its fishing port. You can relax in the seaweed baths in the Solas na Mara Treatment Centre. Helvick is an idyllic spot for a casual stroll or brisk walk. The ocean views in the vicinity of Dun Ard are truly breathtaking.
With such an abundance of fresh sea air and unspoilt natural surroundings, it's little wonder that Ring is renowned for its quality of life and choice of activities. Visitors to Dún Ard Bed and Breakfast can enjoy cosy pubs and fine restaurants, championship golf courses and water based activities. There's no shortage of things to do and places to see.
Dún Ard is further enhanced by its immediate proximity to Mooney's Pub, a famous meeting place down through the years for traditional Irish singers and musicians. Its friendly people and relaxed way of life only adds to its special charm.
